We recently appeared live on BBC1’s The One Show on 9th January and a film was shown about us, made by filmmaker Simon Weitzman, about the talent of our musicians with autism and included the amazing drummer, Rick Jupp, from the world famous band Elbow. He’s also the father of a beautiful and talented son with autism. He left Elbow a couple of years ago to teach drumming individually, including drummers with autism and other disabilities. We also played live on the show, which was amazing and was seen by 6 million people. We have had wonderful responses by many people who were inspired by us, loved our band and our songs! You can watch us 40 seconds in to the broadcast: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3fIHLkUsV0&feature=youtu.be
We were also filmed for a programme on BBC3’s Amazing Humans https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p06677gc that was released earlier this year.

We were also filmed for a programme on BBC3’s Amazing Humans https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p06677gc that was released earlier this year.
Highlights of 2018:
We’re a unique indie rock band, together since 2010. Why unique? We have 6 band members including three who have autism.: Saul, the drummer who has autism plus other disabilities, Jack plays electric guitar, and Graham is our bass player. Jim is our lead singer & band ‘mentor’. He has been a community musician for 20 years, specializing with autism. He leads the band with his great voice and musical skill. He facilitates our talent, creativity and fun. Then we have 2 dads: John plays electric guitar and Michael plays harmonica. From a community music group we became a proper band; writing our own music and performing. We named ourselves ‘The AutistiX’. We make great songs and this, with our quirky stage performance, sets us apart from the many forgettable bands that come and go. We have two missions: to create and perform quality music, while illustrating the talent of musicians with autism. We promote social inclusion and valuing diversity. We’re proud to include musicians with autism – hence our name!
Our performances
The AutistiX stage presence is lively; we are super charged with witty banter, quick repartee and an infectious energy. We’ve performed at legendary UK venues (The Monarch, The Barfly, the Bull and Gate, Proud Camden, O2 Academy Islington, Star & Garter, The White Rock Hastings, Brighton Dome, and at the iconic and wonderful Cavern Club in Liverpool, to name a few. We regularly appear at summer festivals, and perform at fundraising gigs on behalf of charities and autism/disability organisations. A few years ago, in front of an audience of over 1200, we performed with Sir Tom Jones, and had a standing ovation. We’ve also performed in Spain, Switzerland, Guernsey and Romania.
Other news
We are working on several new songs, including one about autism! We plan to record a new EP later in 2019! We also have many gigs booked in the coming months including summer festivals, schools, charities, etc.
