Last weekend was the South End Green Festival Sunday 28th June. Each gig brings its positive points and challenges and this was no exception! Having had a spell of excellent dry and warm weather, Sunday initially promised to offer the same. We were supposed to be on stage at the far too early time of 11.20 so we were actually delighted that when we arrived, the stage had not even been assembled which delayed our gig by over an hour. The crowd started to build nicely (as there is always a great turn out at this festival) but we also watched the sky darken and by the time we got onto stage to start our set, the heavens opened and it started to pour! Our audience scurried for cover and the stall holders stayed bravely by their posts but the expected crowd of about 300 people dwindled to about 60 brave fans. It was a credit to The AutistiX that they played with the usual high energy and enthusiasm, despite slight concerns by the rain getting onto the music and sound equipment! It would have irritated most people that as our gig ended the rain stopped and the rest of the day was fine and even sunny! The AutistiX took this all in their stride and just focussed on performing as well as possible! Pictures to follow soon (not easy taking photos and film with the cameras lenses poking out of plastic bags to shield them from the rain!)
Hopefully our next gigs will be on sunnier days!
